I accidently came across this video about a mathematician who became a billionaire applying quantitative analysis to predicting trends in the financial markets. I imagine he made his fortune mostly from his financial firm (firm unknown). How many people do you know who became a billionaire on just basic technical analysis? Maybe Capital Discussions should have a service on quantitative analysis of the markets ;).
This is the short version of the interview with this mathematician. Note, much of the interview is not about trading but about his life career.

His firm is a well known hedge fund called Renaissance Techonologies Corp. His quant analysis is way beyound basic technical analysis, more like best brains in the world using their intellectual superiority to make money from the markets.

Before you think he is some sort of fair-minded market genius, he is actually the forefather to algorithmic trading aka "steals" market money. Unless, of course, you believe algo trading is just equal players in an auction market.

Not all algorithmic trading is the same. Some is simply entities trying to enter or exit the market without being picked off by predator algos.
