When I try to connect I get a connection failure so it's not a matter of parsing the data. I'm not getting any data. Do you have a sample url you are using successfully to get data?

I just tried downloading SPX price. It was successful. The URL was
    https://query1.finance.yahoo.com/v7...&interval=1d&events=history&crumb=kr1qHoaD9Xp

You see at the end there is a "crumb=kr1qHoaD9Xp". Every session is different. Easiest way to generate that is by using the python module I sent above. There might be other open source modules for VB or C++ but I haven't searched.

    Kevin:
Which Python do you use? (I have never done Python, but need my yahoo finance access restored.)
I tried with ActiveState Python, but unable to get that pip install to work without errors!

I did a quick hack to create a python script to save SPX OHLC to a csv. This captures May 1, 2017 to present. Modify as you need.
I don't know Python yet, so pardon the ugly hack.
prune the .txt for the script.
Thnks to Kevin & Tom for the info.
